Disc Herniation & Bulging Discs

A disc finding on imaging does not tell the whole story. Symptoms, strength, sensation, movement tolerance, and neurologic signs all help determine whether conservative care may be appropriate.

Understanding the pattern

Symptoms can have more than one possible source. An in-person assessment helps connect what you feel with your history, movement, and relevant examination findings.

Common reasons people seek an evaluation

  • Back or neck pain that changes with position or load
  • Radiating symptoms, tingling, or numbness in an arm or leg
  • A prior MRI or diagnosis that needs clinical context

What your first visit may include

  • Review of symptoms, imaging when available, and neurologic status
  • Gentle examination to understand irritability and movement tolerance
  • Referral for additional evaluation when findings fall outside conservative care
